Escalate high-priority tickets from Zendesk to Slack

VIP customer, outage, churn signal: some tickets cannot wait in the normal queue. An Orkeste agent reads every new Zendesk ticket, decides whether it deserves escalation, and pages the right channel and on-call person.

How the workflow runs

  1. Monitor Zendesk: Subscribes to new tickets across the views you care about.
  2. Score urgency: Looks at content, account tier, sentiment and keywords to assign an urgency score.
  3. Decide to escalate: Above threshold, the agent prepares a structured escalation summary.
  4. Human confirms: An on-call lead approves the escalation in Slack with one click.
  5. Page Slack channel: Posts to the right Slack channel with @-mentions and a deep link back to Zendesk.

Human-in-the-loop: Escalations are reviewed by the on-call lead in Slack before they fan out to wider channels.

Questions about this workflow

How do you avoid alert fatigue?

The agent learns from past escalations. False positives are demoted, missed cases are promoted, and Slack volume stays manageable.

Can we escalate to a phone call?

Yes. Once Slack notifies the on-call, your existing paging tools (PagerDuty, Opsgenie) can pick up from there.

Does it cover VIP customers specifically?

Yes. You can boost urgency scoring for accounts tagged as enterprise, strategic or executive sponsors.
